Renate Medley
Renate is one of the cofounders of Santiam Hearts to Arts, and is proud to be one of the primary organizers of the CanyonArts Festival. She has a Master’s Degree in English from California State University, and has taught classes ranging from college English to preschool drama. She is an advocate for literacy through her work with First Book National, an organization that focuses on the importance of book ownership, and whose mission it is to get books to kids.
Job experience includes working as a cable splicer for the phone company, personalized gift basket design, and playing as Skipper the Clown in her own children’s entertainment business. Renate joined Ringling Bros. Circus right out of high school and later took her son out of school so that they could travel the country for a year. She tries to live life as one big adventure and is always anxious to discover what wondrous opportunity will present itself next.
